Free Offline Arabic Voice Typing for Windows

VoxScribe lets you dictate in Arabic into any Windows app. It runs OpenAI's Whisper on your own PC, so it works with no internet, needs no account, and never uploads your voice.

How to dictate in Arabic

  1. Install VoxScribe and let it download its speech model on first run.
  2. Open Settings and choose Arabic as the dictation language.
  3. Hold F9 in any app, speak, and release. The Arabic text is typed where your cursor is.

Text goes in as normal keystrokes, so it works in browsers, chat apps, documents and editors. How right-to-left text looks on screen depends on the app you are typing into.

Pick a model that suits Arabic

Whisper handles Arabic, but accuracy depends on the model size and on the dialect you speak. Smaller models make more mistakes in Arabic than in English. Start with Small, the default, and try a larger model if you need more accuracy. If a sentence comes out wrong, press F8 within two minutes and VoxScribe reruns it on a more careful model and corrects the text.

Using Arabic and English together: choose one language at a time in Settings. With the optional Pro upgrade, a second hold-to-talk key can have its own language, so one key dictates Arabic and the other dictates English.

Privacy

The speech model runs on your computer. Audio is transcribed and discarded locally, and it is never sent to a server. After the one-time model download, dictation works with the internet off.

Frequently asked questions

Does VoxScribe support Arabic?

Yes. Arabic is one of the dictation languages you can choose in Settings. VoxScribe uses Whisper's multilingual models, so the same app that dictates English can dictate Arabic.

Which model works best for Arabic?

Accuracy in Arabic depends on the model size and on the dialect. Smaller models make more mistakes in Arabic than in English, so start with Small or larger and test it with your own voice.

Can I switch between Arabic and English?

Choose one dictation language at a time. With the optional Pro upgrade you can give a second hold-to-talk key its own language, so one key dictates Arabic and the other English without opening Settings. Mixing both languages inside a single sentence is not something to rely on yet.

Does Arabic dictation work offline?

Yes. The multilingual model downloads once and then runs on your computer with no internet, and your audio is not uploaded.
